Fibre Optic Technician Vacancies

TNS has been providing installation activities for over 12 years and our teams are fully trained in the tasks of data network cabling, external cabling, fibre optic cable installation, underground and overhead cabling, blown fibre and cable, duct proving, mechanical rods, passive optical networks and civil engineering tasks including new duct and sub duct, new chambers, blockages and external network infrastructure upgrades. We are currently working on various projects throughout the UK. 

The role:

We are looking for additional team members to join our expanding teams to carry out fibre optic jointing and testing and cable blowing and various other tasks, technicians should be able to read and interpret splicing diagrams and be able to prepare cables for termination and be able to carry out splicing in external fibre optic enclosures and within internal splice closures like patch panels, distribution frames and customer splice points. Be  able to operate and interpret test results using OTDR's and ILM to ensure quality is met. be able to update drawings. including the following:

  • Route surveys

  • Cable installation and preparation

  • Interpret splicing diagrams

  • Be fully conversant with testing

  • Follow company policies and procedures

The candidate

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 12 months experience within external environment on various network operators networks, they should hold network operator passport card and also NRSWA minimum of signing lighting and guarding and cable avoidance and hold a full driving licence (category B and desirable B+E) have a recent enhanced DRB check and be able to provide two references all applicants must be UK residents and have the right to work in the UK.
